FAQ's

Where does your Meat come from?

We source all our lamb and beef from within either the Yorkshire Dales or Lake District National Parks with an effort to support local communities.

It is not lost on us here at the Wensleydale Butcher how lucky we are to work, rest and play in one of the most stunning and environmentally rich areas of the country. You can taste that in our products !

From our base in upper Wensleydale, within earshot of Curlews and Lapwings, that have shared the pastures & meadows with traditional grazing cattle and sheep for centuries, there is now’t truly better than Dale to Doorstep.

How Closely do you Work with Farmers?

We highly value direct contact with our local farmers for knowledge, innovation, welfare assurance and sustainable development. We know where all our meat comes from as it’s personally selected by Martin McIntyre, The Wensleydale Butcher. Our meat comes from local Dales farms and local auction marts to ensure traceability and quality.

We have close relationships with our animal suppliers, and often they are either delivered by the farmer or collected by us directly from the farm. We believe local is key to supplying and ensuring we provide top quality products to you. Our exclusive relationship with Clive and Amanda Owen, The  Yorkshire Shepherdess, is a fine example of this.

It secures high quality natural flavour developed through traditional techniques and holds the highest welfare standards.

What are the Advantages of Buying Direct from the Wensleydale Butcher?

By dealing with us directly, we are able to offer you our highest quality produce at better and more affordable prices.

We buy all our lamb and beef from Dales farms at local auction marts to ensure traceability, quality and animal welfare. Reduced travel distances minimises our carbon footprint and the stress on the stock.

We then process the locally reared meat from arrival to shipment to you.

As we control all the processing, and are sure of the provenance of the meat, we can guarantee the quality of all of our products.

In addition, The Wensleydale Butcher Lamb or Steak Box’s can be made up in several ways with some room for personal customisation. Either build your own box or let us know your particular requirements and we will endeavour to accommodate requests.

All fresh from the National Parks farms and cut to order on site by our master butchers. Order with confidence from us.

How will you deliver my order?

We deliver your order via APC. They offer a reliable service and we feel we can trust them to deliver your order promptly. You will receive a notification when your order is dispatched by email and you will then receive a text/email confirming your order will be delivered the next day.

How quickly will you deliver my order?

We aim to dispatch your order within 72 working hours from the point of your order being placed, where stock levels permit. You will receive an email confirming your order has been dispatched as soon as it leaves us.

Whilst every effort is made to dispatch orders on time we cannot guarantee a set delivery date or time and we are unable to guarantee set dates or times in the future. The majority of our deliveries are delivered to the customer 1 - 2 days after dispatch and this is likely to provide the best guideline to your actual delivery date.

Please note we are unable to amend delivery dates, or your product selection, once your order has been accepted.

We also strongly recommend that you do not amend your delivery date directly with APC.  Your delivery is packaged to ensure it arrives with you in a safely consumable state within the time frame we have agreed with APC.

All deliveries are made in temperature controlled packaging.

How much does delivery cost?

The delivery cost is a flat £5.95 and for orders over £60 will be free this will be added to your bill at checkout.

Is there anywhere that you can't deliver within the UK?

All of our products are delivered using temperature controlled packing and therefore we aim to supply all our customers within 1 - 2 days of dispatch.

Unfortunately, our couriers are currently unable to deliver to some locations within this time frame. At this time this includes Northern Ireland. We are also currently unable to deliver to the following postcodes due to these areas being on 2 + day delivery with our courier.

DD8, DD9, FK16, ZE, HS, PA, KW, IV, AB, PH

Going away or on holiday?

If you are likely to be away, or on holiday, around 2 - 3 working days after placing your order we would recommend holding off placing your order until you come back and can take receipt of your parcels safely. We deliver all of our orders in temperature controlled packaging to ensure that your order is delivered in the best possible condition and any delay or disruption could affect the quality of the product that you receive.
